I'm new to this forum and am having a spot of bother trying to work out how to reply to posts.
I've looked at buttons, read the FAQ and prodded an poked and can't work out exactly how its done.
Can you reply to one person in a thread, or do you have to reply only to the whole thread in a sequence?
Anybody who can answer these questions, thanks.

Sometimes to learn the technology one needs to be thelepatic in order to find out, what the programmers wanted to say or show to the user. Smile

When you click on the ?postreply? button, you are answering to the whole thread. Your answer will appear at the bottom of the thread.
If you want to answer to one of (possible many) persons listed in one thread, you can use the ?quote? button in the right top angle of his/her post.
Of course, you can also send a private message to any person.

Thanks for the information.
It is a bit baffling until one gets the hang of it and then I guess it becomes pretty obvious and instinctive.
But with regard to the quote button for replying to one single user, how exactly does it work after you've pressed it.
The text of all the messages in the thread comes up within quotes but where does a person type out their response?
Thankyou in advance

Please, first click the ?quote? button in this post window in order to analyze the formating.

Yes, since the software doesn't know, what part of the post you want to quote, it quotes the whole text. So, if you want to chose only a part of the post, you can delete the rest.

The quote formating starts with:
where xxx is the name of the quoted person or whatever you write there.
The quote formating ends with:
.

Please, read also this topic for more explenation:

Now, when you are an expert, we probably can expect many posts from you. Please, do. Smile
